Celebrating Episode 31, there are a number of former Bulls players that sported #31..
Jim Fox 1971-1972, Bill Hewitt 1975, John Laskowski 1977, Sam Worthen 1981
Granville Waiters 1987-1988, Brent Barry 1999, Norm Richardson 2002
Roger Mason 2003-2004, Thomas Gardner 2008, Erik Murphy 2014
R.J. Hunter 2017, Jarell Eddie 2018
In this day in Bulls History…
On this day 6 years ago, the Chicago Bulls ended the Miami Heat 27 game winning streak. The game was actually one of the best games of the Nate Robinson era. Boozer had 21 points and 17 rebounds, and Nate Robinson had 14 points, nearly equaling the Heat bench single-handedly. It was one of those games where Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose and Marco Belinelli, Rip Hamilton were all out with injury. Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, Taj, Jimmy and Nate took over the game, stunning Lebron, D-Wade and Bosh and ending Miami’s nearly 2 month long winning streak.
Bulls vs Trailblazers Post Game Analysis.
The Bulls starters were: Shaq Harrison, Antonio Blakeney, Brandon Sampson, Wayne Selden and Robin Lopez. The Bulls called up 2-way players Rawle Alkins and Brandon Sampson even though Windy City Bulls had playoff game tonight, which seemed odd being that it was a 1 game playoff, which they LOST because Sampson and Alkins were playing for the Bulls tonight instead of with the Windy City Bulls.
The Bulls LOST 118-98.
Not much to talk about here except the great play of Robin Lopez continuing. Shaq Harrison added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals for the Bulls who were playing against a good Portland team that was still reeling from the tragic loss of Jusuf Nurkic’s injury, which was among the most gruesome thing in an NBA game next to Gordon Hayward and Paul George. His ankle basically shattered as he landed on it wrong. He may be out for a full year in recovery, so you have to feel for Portland going into the playoffs without one of their leading stars. Even our buddy Cristiano Felicio got some tick, getting 15 points in the game. Rawle Alkins, who just last week on the show we wanted him to get called up. He did, and got 2 points in 16 minutes of play.
Last Week’s Overall Predictions:
Saturday, March 23 – Bulls vs Utah Jazz (Wyse – L, Marcus – L)
Tuesday, March 26 – Bulls @ Toronto Raptors (Wyse – L, Marcus – L)
Wednesday, March 27 – Bulls vs Portland Trailblazers (Wyse – L, Marcus – L)
In the last 3 games, we both predicted a 0-3 record. Both called a perfect prediction!

Rumored Bulls Trade for Anthony Davis
There is a rumored trade in the works that would depend on where the Bulls land in the NBA lottery. This trade would immediately shift the rebuild timetable and place a legit All-Star in a Bulls uniform.
Trade Package: Lauri Markkanen, Zach LaVine, 2019 first-round pick
The Pelicans’ primary focus in a Davis deal is landing “a young player … who has the potential to become an All-NBA performer,” per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Markkanen and LaVine might both fit that bill, plus there’s a 12.

Bulls vs Wizards Post Game Analysis. Bulls WIN 126-120
The Chicago Bulls were short-handed in their return to the United Center after a long West Coast road trip on Wednesday, but that didn’t stop them from getting the victory, as they road huge games from Lauri Markkanen and Kris Dunn to a 126-120 victory over the now fading Washington Wizards.
Markkanen posted yet another huge double-double with one of his best games of the year by going for 32 points and 13 rebounds, while Dunn had what was easily his best game of the year with a season-high 26 points and 13 assists to go along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even the Brazilian Marshmallow got in the action with 16 points and 5 rebounds!
It’s quite fitting that Markkanen hit a huge clutch three for his final points with 32.4 seconds left in overtime off of Dunn’s final assist to secure the victory.
Markkanen: 32 pts | 13 rebs | 5 asts
Dunn: 26 pts | 10-24 FG | 13 asts
Beal: 27 pts | 7 rebs | 7 asts

Otto Porter Jr has been out the last 2 games with a right rotator cuff strain.
This is a bit of a blessing in disguise, as it gives us some games to evaluate our bench role players to see who we can to keep next year. It also helps out the tank, as Otto has been contributing to a lot of Wins as of late. The injury is just a strain and shouldn’t put Otto out for too long.
But with the tanking, it may even be time to shut down Otto and Zach anyway.

Last Week’s Overall Predictions:
In the last 4 games, we both predicted a 1-3 record. The Bulls outplayed our predictions, going 2-2, including the victory over Phoenix and Washington.
Our Predictions Last Week:
Friday March 15th – Bulls at LA Clippers (Wyse L, Marcus L)
Sunday March 17th – Bulls at Sacramento Kings (Wyse L, Marcus L)
Monday March 18 – Bulls at Phoenix (Tank Battle) (Wyse W, Marcus L)
Wednesday March 20th – Bulls vs Washington Wizards (Wyse L, Marcus W)

Fred Hoiberg will accept the head coaching job at the University of Nebraska.
The Bulls will no longer owe Fred Hoiberg’s remaining $5 million once he officially accepts the job. The Bulls are linked to hiring Bill Self (Kansas coach) this summer if they move on from Jim Boylen.

Should Zach Shut it Down?
Zach Lavine has missed the last 2 games with a patellar tendon strain as revealed by Jim Boylen this week. There is no reason for the Bulls to rush LaVine back given their place in the standings, and they can turn toward the combination of Otto Porter, Shaq Harrison and Antonio Blakeney on the wing while LaVine is sidelined. It may help our tank out tremendously.
But should Zach consider shutting down the whole season?
For a competitive standpoint, of course. It’s well-known how much Boylen wants to win. Remember, he’s the coach who had his players doing extra wind sprints and pushups when he took over. But even the Bulls’ boisterous coach knows what’s at stake here, via K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune:
“What we’re hoping for is every day he responds and gets a little better,” he said. “But it’s not the situation or the time of the year to push a guy to try and get a certain seed or home court. That’s as simply as I can put it. I think you know my personality. I want to win every game and play our ass off every game. But we’ve got to be smart too.’’
With the addition of Otto Porter Jr. and the continued growth of Markkanen, a healthy LaVine would excite fans and probably pull off a few wins. In an era where tanking is the norm and mediocrity is NBA purgatory, however, the risk for those wins is simply too high.
Zach LaVine on approach with his right patellar tendinitis: “There’s no reason to go out there and try to risk anything right now. It’s not smart.”
There really isn’t a better way to say it than that. Of course Zach LaVine wants to be on the court and performing at a high level, but this season has always been about what comes next.
Rest and recuperation is the most common sense approach for their budding star. For the Chicago Bulls, another serious LaVine injury would be too severe to endure.

Post Game – Bulls vs 76ers
The Bulls played a highlight reel filled game vs the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday Night, pulling off a victory with the score of 108-107.
The Bulls high flying leading scorer continued to come into focus with 39 points, including the game winning driving score with 1.6 seconds left for a 108-107 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. It was the Bulls sixth win in the last nine games that includes victories over hard charging Finals contenders Philadelphia and Boston.
Robin Lopez continued his scoring mastery with 19 points and nine rebounds and Otto Porter Jr. added 15 points and a team best matching nine rebounds. Former Bull Jimmy Butler led the 76ers with 22 points, including two free throws with 4.8 seconds left that appeared like it would save the 76ers from losing after leading by 10 points in the fourth quarter. But LaVine took a dribble handoff from Lopez, the 76ers blew the defensive switch and LaVine flew down the lane for the deciding layup, pumping his fist in exhilaration as he also was fouled. Though he missed the free throw. But in Butler’s two appearances in the United Center since his trade, LaVine has outplayed Butler down the stretch leading to a pair of Bulls victories.
In a strange occurrence, the Bulls actually had to replay the last .5 seconds TWICE. Lavine and Lopez had already done post game interviews and Otto Porter was actually “mid-stride” in submitting urine for a league drug test and couldn’t return to the floor.
All in all, this was a fantastic win to add to the season with several highlights that are destined to be on the season-long highlight reel.

Is Washington Getting Buyers Remorse for Portis and Parker?
There are obviously no take-backs, as we really like Otto Porter Jr for the Bulls, but it’s very interesting to see the reaction of Washington Wizards fans regarding how their end of the trade has turned out.
So far, here’s what they have done on the Wizards:
Portis:
He’s played in 6 games, averaging 27.5 minutes per game. He is scoring 15.8 PPG, shooting .500, 7.5 Rebounds.
Parker:
